Yeah...this...all of it!

My greatest embarassment looking back is the fact that I had heard the words before we even got married that would prevent any less-naive girl from saying "I do".

His uncle was in town. We went to dinner with him and he asked my now-ex, "What makes you think at the age of 22 that you are ready to get married?" Good question, huh? Well, my now-ex says in response, "Well, Uncle X, there comes a time in a man's life that he just cannot progress any more on his own and he needs a wife."

Yeah, he actually said that. I didn't know anything about narcissism. I knew nothing about red flags. I was 19 years old and had grown up so sheltered from the "real" world. Now, it is terrifying to remember that moment. But, then, I was just a little confused and trusted he knew what he was talking about... I mean, he was 22, you know! lol!
