And the Women’s Sovereignty Creed

Today, I was listening, for the 4th time, to If Women Rose Rooted. It is an amazing book by the author, Sharon Blackie. This time, however, I was thinking about Yael Wolfe and the stage of life she is in, and how much she would love this book, and, and…

But I was shaken out of my thinking by a word that felt like something when I heard it spoken. It was sovereignty.

Sharon wrote a story, summarizing the beautiful myth starring The Black Knight, Sir Gawain, King Arthur and the Lady Ragnell.

Once again, Arthur has gotten himself into a fix and the Black Knight is threatening to kill him. But, at the last minute the knight decided to give him a riddle to solve and ordered a specified time to meet him back at the site to give him the answer.

Arthur returned to Camelot and told his knights, who then with him, searched the land in all directions for the answer. The riddle was:

What is it that women want most?

According to the story, the knights got all kinds of answers to the question as they traveled, asking the women in the kingdom. Each answer was equally believable, but there seemed to be no consensus.
