Because clearly lawyers are not enough

Today, a ruling came back on my court case…an eternal, sad, and pathetic divorce. There is no reason for any of it. My ex and I did the entire dissolution together and were ready to sign it, and then he got a lawyer who blew my and the kids’ lives up. Then the ex disappeared, pretty much.

That was almost a year and a half ago. Now, I am using my limited monies to pay a loan off in his name-the car that I was driving-that doesn’t even run anymore. I am paying the interest on a credit card that I used in addition to all of my income during 8 months of separation, in lieu of child support…until it maxed out. Since then, I have struggled and he owes me 17.8 K in retroactive child support. Covid wiped out my small business and unemployment has kept us afloat, until Indiana stopped handing it out. Now, I have 3 part time jobs, and schoolwork, and 4 kids.

The ruling gave me complete responsibility to pay him for the car that doesn’t run…leaving me with literally no transportation-and I live in the country. The ruling also didn’t find him in contempt after he failed to pay one bill (three times) that the judge ordered him to pay (with my money that I send him monthly). It is the credit card in my name. He paid it all right. But he paid it late and my credit rating is totally hashed.
