We feel it all, then shame ourselves for feeling it.

Why do we make being a mom so hard?

I am thinking about making a business card…

Christy-X- LME, MGS, MSS, MWCED, LNMW, and MWTTH.

I’d look so professional. So many titles, showing the fullness of my experience of the everyday.

  • LME-Lamest Mom Ever
  • MGS-Mom Guilt Specialist
  • MSS-Mom Shame Specialist
  • LNMW-Loves No Matter What
  • MWTTH-Mom Who Tries Too Hard

And this is just the “mom” part of my life. I could add so many more:

  • FAF-Forgetful as F#%k
  • THGR-Tree Hugger
  • MOOT-Made out of Tears

The list could go on and one. I write that to be a little funny, but the “everyday” as a mom is where I live. I live on the spectrum of ecstatic joy to unbearable pain on a daily basis. No wonder it is hard, even impossible, sometimes.

To demonstrate, I will tell you a story:

I have a son in the army. His leaving was out of pure desire to follow his heart and that inner knowing that he was needed there, as well as needed that experience. He is a wise young man. His presence in my life changed me from day…
