The God of the In-Between Spaces

Since my faith transition began several years ago, I have been searching for a definition of God that was real, not fluffy, not gendered, and useful. It has been quite a quest, but I am really grateful to have taken the time to do so.

Many people my age, after growing up in conservative religions run away as fast as they can, once they realize the kind of brainwashing, sexism, manipulation, and trauma that has become the norm in such places. I was not immune to that either. But there is something in me that could not just give up on the idea of God. (I wrote about that here-https://christy-77163.medium.com/the-two-week-atheist-93c287cd3136…)

As I searched, prayed, meditated, chatted with others, tried things on, and took things back off again, I found something that worked for me. And that is this:

God originates, is nurtured, and is most influential, inside relationships.

After growing up Mormon, the idea of an unembodied God is a wonderful option. God as non-gendered is vital. I wanted a God that could be bigger than a man, more loving than requiring perfection, and more patient with me than I was.
There has been, in certain theological circles, the conversation that we create God in our own image, and I suppose that it is true, to some extent. We create our lovers in our own image…we only see what we want…
