We’ve all have been in a place in our lives where we have felt powerless. In these moments, we must force ourselves to do the hard work of looking at who we have surrounded ourselves with.
How have we allowed them to take advantage of us?
What would motivate them to do so?
These are some of the questions we must ask in order to move forward into healing the wounds.
So often, when we find we dislike or feel uncomfortable around people, we are dealing with some level of anger with ourselves for allowing them to treat us the way they do. We have found ourselves in a kind of mess we feel powerless too change.
Several years ago, an image crossed my mind’s eye. It wasn’t pleasant and yet, it was quite some time before I could “do” anything about it. We only see when we are willing to see. I feel this deeply.
The image I saw was myself facing some sort of being, black, ethereal, with its mouth close my nose. There was movement in the image. It was of the being, breathing in the air that I was breathing out, sucking the air from my lungs. The image I attributed to be male, although this article is not at all about gender.
