So many things I want to say. When I found the man I would marry, he had no idea what he wanted to be when he grew up. He was 22. I was 18. For the next 25 plus years, he held numerous jobs while he took 20 years to get his doctorate. When I filed for divorce, he was finally making enough money to support us. But I always had 3 part time jobs along the way to have money for the bills and food. But IN has no alimony. All of those years and incredible sacrifices I made while I worked and raised our four children. Nothing. he thought it was funny. He announced to me one day, “ you know, you aren’t getting anything right?”

He was right. No alimony. No retirement. Nothing. Except debt.

Alimony isn’t support. It’s helping to make up for all we sacrificed to get them where they are. And my god, these were enormous sacrifices.
