I love this! Yes, I was born and raised on a pedestal. Perfection was not an option, but a requirement. I do NOT want to be special. It requires to much from me. I want to be equal, although you and I both know that is a pipe dream. Thank you for mentioning this in your writing. We women truly struggle with the idea that our performance is where our value lies and it is just that...a lie.
I love the William Golding quote however. I do not think he is saying we are special. I think he is saying the feminine power of creation is alive and well in many of us, and that it should be reverenced. If men would embrace their, they would have this ability as well. But, they should not dare to squelch ours, dammit.
