From One Who Was A Housewife…
A response to Yael Wolfe’s article
Yael writes articles from a perspective that many of us can understand. We are right there with her, struggling with the same demons in mid-life as women who grew up in a world, programmed to be the kind of woman that is no longer valued and is actively shamed in today’s world.
Comparing the world of the 80s and today, there are very few similarities. And she points one major dissimilarity out in this article:
As I read her article, I realized that I must have more to grieve than I had thought. You know how it goes. Life is busy. You can’t think about your pain all of the time. There is just no room for it. But thanks to Yael, I got a good dose of pain delivered to my inbox. (I love that woman, btw)
As I read her article, like many women my age, I ached to be seen. I ached for the many years of incredibly hard work I did caring for children, creating a home — a loving and safe space for people to come home to. My response to her article:
