Alison,

Many, many times I have said just this. All of the years I spent as a homeschool mom, working at least 2 other part time jobs after school, I would have given anything, anything at all for him to be home in time for me to go to work, yes, but more than that, for him to be interested in spending quality time with his kids. It was a part time job just getting him to the dinner table when we had family dinner. He often ate alone, later. For some reason, some men miss the boat entirely when they lose out on the amazing, forgiving, and unconditional love of a child.

Burnout for me was life for many, many years. But, I thought it would be over someday. And it was....when he moved out and we got to have our life without him. And it is the most honest our lives have ever been. Thanks for this!
